Greetings all - once again the Seasons have turned, meaning it is time for another Diaspora Dinner, the eleventh in our acclaimed series of gourmet dinners and history presentations on the Jews of the world.
This next event will assuredly be near and dear to the hearts of many of you, as it will be focused on the Jewish history of New York City! The Big Apple is in many respects the epicenter of the Diaspora and may arguably be the greatest city on Earth - Brooklyn is where I was born and as to any arguments to the contrary about New York's importance - fuhgeddaboudit!
We have a very exciting, 5-course gourmet meal planned, representing all of the major Ashkenazic, Sephardic and Yiddishkeit Jews of the City (though this *IS* a Diaspora Dinner, so expect to be surprised by how we have updated some classic dishes and even prepared some items from scratch that you would never expect!). Some menu items will definitely surprise, and are included in deference to the multi-cultural aspects of the City - but all of them are prepared to our exacting standards of quality, elegance and authenticity.
DD XI will be held at Temple Emanu-El, 1010 University Drive, San Jose, CA, 95126 on Sat. March 17 from 6:00 - 9:00 PM. Your participation in the Diaspora Dinner series enables Brotherhood to continue our financial donations and support to Temple - don't forget there will be a raffle as well, with hundreds of dollars worth of prizes for you to win!
We look forward to your participation - remember that we only have 80 seats available and are currently at 70 confirmed reservations. If you have previously sent in your check and reservation, please reconfirm via email or phone that you are indeed attending. This step is necessary due to the rescheduled date for this dinner - please send an email to Jeff Marsh at <email removed> (preferred) or call the Temple office at 408-292-0939.
Please note that we must have your check in hand by no later than March 7 to guarantee your reservation - checks should be made out to Temple Emanu-El Brotherhood, $40 per person ($58 per person if you wish to take advantage of the matched wine pairing opportunity per course). As always, we expect a waiting list on this event, so do get your reservations and checks in early to guarantee seating. Send the checks to the attention of Emanu-El Brotherhood at the address listed above.
We have raised thousands of dollars for Temple through this series and appreciate all of your continued enthusiasm for the Diaspora Dinners!
cheers, Jonathan
