A good afternoon to you - there is a new chill in the air, the days are growing shorter and it is once again time for the next in the ongoing Diaspora Dinner series!
It is my great pleasure to invite you to attend Diaspora Dinner XVI - the Jews of Scandinavia on November 8, from 6:00 - 9:00 PM. As you know, this 5-course charity gourmet dinner extravaganza and multimedia history presentation is one of the highlights of the season, with the San Jose Mercury News calling it 'one of the great experiences of Silicon Valley'.
Our team of chefs is prepared to create a 5-course gourmet feast that will redefine your preconceived notions of Scandinavian cuisine - and the history presentation to follow will enlighten you to the brave acts of heroism performed by the citizens of these Northern countries during World War II. There is also a proud Jewish history throughout Scandinavia and you will learn all about it, after having dined on some of the finest food your tastebuds have recently encountered. ;)
As an added incentive for your attendance, I am breaking with tradition this time and including a copy of the tentative menu for your appraisal. Normally, we never disclose the menu in advance, but I will pierce that veil of secrecy for you now, in the hopes you will choose to attend - Scandinavian cuisine as presented by the Diaspora Dinner team is not-to-be-missed!
The cost is $49 per person ($40 for Temple Emanu-El Brotherhood members), with one glass of wine included in the 5-course dinner. Paired wine offerings matched to each course are also
available for an additional $18 per person, as personally selected by our sommelier-in-residence. We also offer a raffle at the end of the event with hundreds of dollars in prizes, including
Apple hardware - raffle tickets are sold at the event.
We do cap attendance at 80 with no exceptions - if you want to attend, please do let us know at your earliest convenience via our email address of <email removed>. Please have the subject line read: 'Diaspora Dinner' so we don't miss your reservation request. :) Note that due to the ludicrous popularity of this event, your reservation is *not* confirmed until we receive your check - it should be made out to 'Temple Emanu-El Brotherhood'. Mailing, event and check writing details are at the end of this message.
I thank you in advance for your time and consideration and we hope you can join us for this latest in our Diaspora Dinner series. :)
cheers, Jonathan
