SPRING BREAK IS HERE! There is no school from March 23^rd through March 30^th. The Religious School Office is also closed and will reopen on March 31^st. If you have any questions or need assistance during this period, please contact the Temple Administrative Office at 408-292-0939.

 

Passover Candy orders have arrived. The orders will be delivered to classrooms on Sunday, April 6^th. If you want to pick up your order before then, contact the Temple Administrative Office. The Haggadot have not yet arrived; orders will be distributed as soon as they come in.

 

EESY, our Senior Youth Group, is going roller skating and out to dinner on Sunday, March 30^th. Roller skating will be from 4 pm to 6 pm at San Jose Skate with dinner following at Buca di Bepo. Students should be dropped off at San Jose Skate by 4 pm. Carpools will be provided to the restaurant, where students should be picked up at by 8 pm. Cost is $20 per person. EESY members are also going dancing on Saturday April 12^th. This high school age only event (9^th through 12^th grades) will cost $20 if you rsvp by April 2nd; it will cost $25 at the door. Once again, contact Amanda Schmitt for more detailed information and to RSVP.

 

Events for our 4^th through 7^th grade youth groups are planned for the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month. The next get together will be on April 9^th. (There is no event on March 26^th since Hebrew and Religious School are closed for the spring break.) Here’s the schedule for each event:

6 pm – 6:20 pm Dinner ($5; RSVP a must)

6:20 pm – 7 pm Secular school study time (bring homework)

7 pm – 8 pm A fun activity

 

On Saturday, April 5^th, you can enjoy Shabbat in Nature at Uvas Canyon Park in the foothills of the Santa Cruz Mountains. The Minyan Service begins at 10:30 am; the site is reserved from 8:00 am until sunset, so plan on spending as much of Shabbat at the park as you like. Flyers with more detailed information are available from the Religious School office.

 

Miranda Katz is holding a bake sale on April 6^th immediately following Religious School at 12:30 pm in front of the Temple House to raise money for her mitzvah project. She is donating her proceeds to the Multiple Sclerosis National Society in memory of her aunt who passed away from this disease last December. Miranda will become a Bat Mitzvah on May 3, 2008.

 

For parents of all students in grades 2 through 7, there will be a B’nai Mitzvah orientation in the Temple sanctuary on April 6^th from 9 am to 10 am. This is a terrific opportunity to learn about the requirements for becoming a Bar or Bat Mitzvah as well as helpful information for parents when planning such an event.
