:: RELIGIOUS SCHOOL UPDATES ::

Date: May 1st 2008

There are so many wonderful reasons to attend the Family Service tomorrow night, May 2nd:  Grade 1 and Grade 5 will be participating in the service.  Our teachers and madrichim will be honored for their outstanding dedication and contributions to our Religious School community this year.  And, this will be the night that we honor those who completed the Chai Circle challenge and dedicate the Chai Circle artwork so lovingly created by congregation member Edith Argabrite.  The service begins at 7:15 PM and is preceded by a potluck dinner in the Temple House that begins promptly at 6:30 PM.  If you plan to attend the potluck dinner, please RSVP to the Administrative office at admin@templesanjose.org or 292-0939 ASAP.

An Israeli Memorial Day Ceremony and Israeli Independence Day Concert will take place on Wednesday, May 7th, at 7:00 PM, at the JCC.  This event will begin with a ceremony in honor of Israeli Memorial Day (Yom HaZikaron) and be followed by a concert for Israeli Independence Day (Yom HaAtzma'ut).  The Yom HaZikaron ceremony will include songs and readings by local rabbis, schoolchildren, and Israeli soldiers.  The ceremony will be followed by a Yom HaAtzma'ut concert starting around 8:00pm and featuring acclaimed singer and musician Rabbi Joe Black.  These events are free and open to the entire community.

**SUNDAY SCHOOL ENDS AT 12:00 PM INSTEAD OF 12:30 PM ON MAY 11TH to attend festivities in honor of Israeli @ 60.  For a preview of what’s coming up, go to www.svjcc.org/israel@60.

Mark your calendars for a special ceremony!  Wedding bells will be ringing for Robert and Seema Jaffee once again as they reaffirm their vows on Sunday, May 18, 2008, at 11:30 am in the Temple Sanctuary.  All members of the Temple community are invited to this special occasion.  A reception to follow will be hosted by the students and families from our Religious School and members of the Temple community.  Since this is a Temple wide event, we are asking each family to bring one dozen cookies or an equivalent amount of fruit or cheese and crackers for the reception.  If you would like to join us on this happy day, please RSVP to the Religious School Office at 292-3223 or school@templesanjose.org.
