Hopefully all of you have had a wonderful summer, and everyone is
rejuvenated and ready to begin a new year at Religious School. All families who have enrolled children for the
2008-2009 school year will receive a mailing next week about Opening Day on
September 14th and other important information about the school
year. If you have not yet enrolled your
children, please do so immediately. We must receive enrollment forms by September 5, 2008, in
order for your children to be able to attend school on Opening Day.
Here is some brief
information about times and events for Opening Day:
8:15 am Brotherhood
Pancake Breakfast. Breakfast
is
complimentary for all students.
Donations are strongly encouraged from everyone else!
9:00 am - 10:00 am Confirmation –
Rabbi’s study.
9:00 am – 10:00 am Hebrew Classes
begin (Aleph
– Intro to Modern Hebrew) -
School
Building.
9:00 am – 10:00 am First Parent “Back
to School” meeting - Temple House.*
10:15 am – 12:30 pm Religious School - All students will meet their
classmates in the Sanctuary for an Opening Day Assembly. Parents are welcome.
10:30 am – 11:30 am Second Parent “Back to School” meeting -
Temple House.*
12:30
pm Religious School classes are dismissed. (If your child is
in 2nd Grade or below, please pick up your child personally from
their classroom. These classes all meet
on the lower floor of the School Building.)
*Each
family is required to attend one, not both, of the Back to School meetings.
The 2008-2009
Temple Emanu-El Religious School calendar will be included with the above
mailing. It will also be posted on the
Temple website by the beginning of next week.

Childcare
for High Holy Day services is available for children ages 2 through
Kindergarten. There is no charge for Temple members, but
pre-registration is required.

Congregational Service, September 30th, from 10:00 am – 12:30 pm.

Yom Kippur
Congregational Service, October 9th, from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm.

Gesher
is a new program designed for children in first through third grades during the
High Holiday services. Gesher will be offered on Rosh Hashanah and
Yom Kippur Days, running concurrently with the Congregational Services. Children will enjoy a service designed for
them, as well as educational, physical and creative activities. Snacks and drinks will be provided on Rosh
Hashanah. This
program is free to members, but once again pre-registration is required by
August 30th. Register
online at the Temple website.
