:: Tikkun Olam Workshop ::

Date: October 4th 2006

For those of you who have already been receiving this newsletter, thank you for your continued interest in the Social Action Committee. If you were unable to attend the Tikkun Olam study session on Yom Kippur, I want to tell you that we introduced some important Social Justice concepts to an interested group. We also announced a workshop that will lead to setting up a core group of members who will assist me in the vital project of connecting with our congregation through a listening campaign. Our goal is to engage the members of the Temple in working on issues of concern to them that contribute to Tikkun Olam, that is, Social Justice activities. I need your participation.

For those of you who are new and signed up at the study session, thank you for your participation and your interest in our Social Action Committee activities. You will have a unique opportunity to contribute to the betterment of our Temple and our community. I hope you will follow through and attend the upcoming Tikkun Olam workshop. If you know of some other individuals who may be interested, please invite them to attend too.

The first session of the Tikun Olam Workshop will be held on October 11, 2006, at Temple Emanu-El, in the BFR, at 7:00 pm. It will be led by staff from PACT. This will be an important kick-off start to our project, so I need you to plan on attending. Even if you are unable to participate in the follow-up for the project, it would be helpful to come to this session, to be aware of what is going on and lend us your support and your input suggestions.

Please let me know you will attend. If you have any questions, please contact me directly.

Thank you,

Rich Albert
Chair, Social Action Committee
