Hi all -
David did not have surgery today. An emergency forced Dr. Bergman to reschedule him for Wednesday morning. Also, the doctors wanted to again check David's gait (walking ability) to see if it has improved. Today, after working with a physical therapist and with both Dr. Englander (rehab) and Dr. Bergman (neurosurgeon) present, it was determined that David's walking has not yet improved, despite significant CSF (cerebral spinal fluid) drainage. The doctors feel that it is still early in the process, and that the walking will likely improve over time, especially since David hasn't really been out of bed for over a week.
I will let you know how he is doing after the surgery on Wednesday.
