		 <description>&#60;p&#62;(Mailing List Information, including unsubscription instructions, &#60;br /&#62;
is located at the end of this message.)&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
A good afternoon to you - there is a new chill in the air, the days are growing shorter and it is once again time for the next in the ongoing Diaspora Dinner series!&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
It is my great pleasure to invite you to attend Diaspora Dinner XVI - the Jews of Scandinavia on November 8, from 6:00 - 9:00 PM.  As you know, this 5-course charity gourmet dinner extravaganza and multimedia history presentation is one of the highlights of the season, with the San Jose Mercury News calling it 'one of the great experiences of Silicon Valley'.  &#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
Our team of chefs is prepared to create a 5-course gourmet feast that will redefine your preconceived notions of Scandinavian cuisine - and the history presentation to follow will enlighten you to the brave acts of heroism performed by the citizens of these Northern countries during World War II.  There is also a proud Jewish history throughout Scandinavia and you will learn all about it, after having dined on some of the finest food your tastebuds have recently encountered. ;)&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
As an added incentive for your attendance, I am breaking with tradition this time and including a copy of the tentative menu for your appraisal.  Normally, we never disclose the menu in advance, but I will pierce that veil of secrecy for you now, in the hopes you will choose to attend - Scandinavian cuisine as presented by the Diaspora Dinner team is not-to-be-missed!&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
The cost is $49 per person ($40 for Temple Emanu-El Brotherhood members), with one glass of wine included in the  5-course dinner.  Paired wine offerings matched to each course are also &#60;br /&#62;
available for an additional $18 per person, as personally selected by our sommelier-in-residence.  We also offer a raffle at the end of the event with hundreds of dollars in prizes, including &#60;br /&#62;
Apple hardware - raffle tickets are sold at the event.  &#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
We do cap attendance at 80 with no exceptions - if you want to attend, please do let us know at your earliest convenience via our email address of &#38;lt;email removed&#38;gt;. Please have the subject line read: 'Diaspora Dinner' so we don't miss your reservation request. :)  Note that due to the ludicrous popularity of this event, your reservation is *not* confirmed until we receive your check - it should be made out to 'Temple Emanu-El Brotherhood'.  Mailing, event and check writing details are at the end of this message.&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
I thank you in advance for your time and consideration and we hope you can join us for this latest in our Diaspora Dinner series. :)&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
cheers, Jonathan&#60;br /&#62;

&#60;br /&#62;
To those of you who have already RSVP'ed - thank you!&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
To those who haven't yet - here is a resend of the original email.  Please do *not* reply to this email - send your email reservation requests to Dave Graubart at &#38;lt;email removed&#38;gt;.&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
Well, once again the seasons have turned - there is more than a hint of Summer in the air, the cherry blossoms have come and gone and the next Diaspora Dinner is ready to accept your reservations! :)&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
I am pleased to announce that the theme of Diaspora Dinner XV is the Ottoman Empire! Your tastebuds will be regaled with a host of different flavours, originating in Turkey and spreading like that ancient empire to Greece, Lebanon, Bulgaria, Romania and others! As is consistent with the Diaspora Dinner theme, all will be made to obsessive levels of authenticity and will (we hope) surpass your always high expectations of us.&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
In addition, to keep with our theme, there will be no 'Appetizer' or 'Main Dish' course - instead, a series of Mezzes, or small plates will delight you, course after course after course - 5 in total, including a truly exceptional dessert course!&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
The menu - subject to change is:&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
Course 1: Trio of Dips with Turkish-style Pita &#38;#150; Greek Skordalia, Lebanese Hummus bi Tahini and Syrian Muhamara; Romanian Mitteti (grilled beef &#38;#145;sausages&#38;#146;)&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
Course 2: Greek Avgolemono Egg-Lemon Soup with Pureed Vegetables and Dill&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
Course 3: Badridzhani Mtsvanilit (Georgian Herbed Eggplant Salad), Turkish Circassian Chicken Salad, Moroccan Tuna Salad with Chermoula&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
Course 4: Turkish Manti (tortellini) with Bulgarian Tarator Sauce, Georgian Lamb Basturma with Green Tkemali Sauce&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
Course 5: Greek Galaktoboureko square, garnished with Turkish Delight and Seasonal Fruits&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
We use the profits from this program to the benefit of Temple Emanu-El. We sincerely hope you will join us on Saturday, May 31 from 6 - 9 PM for our traditional feast and multimedia presentation on the fascinating Jewish history of this diverse and expansive empire. This is one of the richest areas in Jewish history, and includes tales of great heroism and new beginnings, as well as at least one tragic ending for Jewish life in the region.&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
Cost per seat is $49 for non-Brotherhood members and $40 for Brotherhood members - and will include unique beverages and wine. For an additional $18 per person, our resident Sommelier will exquisitely match the finest regional wines to each course. For those of you who have attended a Diaspora Dinner, you know there is no greater bargain for the quality of food, wine and presentation (not to mention the learning experience). There will of course be our raffle at the end of the Dinner as well - hundreds of $ in prizes will be raffled off, including at least one electronics item guaranteed to be of great excitement to all. :)&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
Get your checks in early - these Dinners consistently sell out and we expect nothing different from this one - we will cap the guest list at 80 and we count reservations only upon reception of your check. Please make checks out to Temple Emanu-El Brotherhood and mail c/o Brotherhood to: Temple Emanu-El, 1010 University Avenue, San Jose, CA 95126. Again, your seat is not guaranteed until we receive your check, so please get them to us ASAP - a number of people have already pre-paid for this dinner, and there are thus fewer than usual available seats.&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
The Mercury News calls the Diaspora Dinner one of the hottest tickets in Silicon Valley - and they are right. General publicity on this will go out next week, so you are getting a headstart on everyone else - be sure you take advantage of it! :)&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
I look forward to seeing you at this next installment of our Dinner series - with best regards, Jonathan&#60;br /&#62;

Well, once again the seasons have turned - there is more than a hint of Spring in the air, the cherry blossoms are out in full and the next Diaspora Dinner is ready to accept your reservations! :)&#60;br /&#62;

I am pleased to announce that the theme of Diaspora Dinner XV is the Ottoman Empire!  Your tastebuds will be regaled with a host of different flavours, originating in Turkey and spreading like that ancient empire to Greece, Lebanon, Bulgaria, Romania and others!  With a bounty of late Spring and Early Summer vegetables at our Chefs fingertips, expect them to appear in many different forms throughout the meal, as will grilled meats and fish.  Expect a few familiar dishes and *many* new ones - as is consistent with the Diaspora Dinner theme, all will be made to obsessive levels of authenticity and will (we hope) surpass your always high expectations of us.&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
In addition, to keep with our theme, there will be no 'Appetizer' or 'Main Dish' course - instead, a series of Mezzes, or small plates will delight you, course after course after course - 5 in total, including a truly exceptional dessert course!  &#60;br /&#62;

Also, if you are not yet a Brotherhood member - now is the time to join, the cost is a mere $54 per year (higher levels of membership at $72 and $90) that gives you access to our full program of offerings, as well as many other benefits.  As an added incentive, enclose your membership check for Brotherhood's 2008/2009 fiscal year (starting July 1) and we will automatically give you 3 free raffle tickets at this Dinner - a $15 value (and you don't have to be present at the Dinner to win). :)&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
Get your checks in early - these Dinners consistently sell out and we expect nothing different from this one - we will cap the guest list at 80 and we count reservations only upon reception of your check.  Please make checks out to Temple Emanu-El Brotherhood and mail c/o Brotherhood to:  Temple Emanu-El, 1010 University Avenue, San Jose, CA 95126.  Again, your seat is *not* guaranteed until we receive your check, so please get them to us ASAP - a number of people have already pre-paid for this dinner, and there are thus fewer than usual available seats.&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
The Mercury News calls the Diaspora Dinner one of the hottest tickets in Silicon Valley - and they are right.  General publicity on this will go out next week, so you are getting a headstart on everyone else - be sure you take advantage of it! :)&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
I look forward to seeing you at this next installment of our Dinner series - with best regards, Jonathan&#60;br /&#62;

		 <title>Diaspora Dinner XIV Invitation
</title>
		 <link>http://lists.templesanjose.org/mail.cgi/archive/Diaspora_Dinner/20071213111654/</link>
		 <description>&#60;p&#62;(Mailing List Information, including unsubscription instructions, &#60;br /&#62;
is located at the end of this message.)&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
It is my distinct pleasure to invite you and your chosen guests to join me at Diaspora Dinner XIV - The Jews of North Africa on January 19 from 6-9 PM.  This 5-course gourmet meal and multimedia history presentation (cited by the San Jose Mercury News as one of the more interesting experiences in the Bay Area) will include cuisine from the exotic locations of Morocco, Tunisia, Algeria and Egypt - with levels of authenticity that border on the obsessive. &#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
How obsessive you might ask - I'm glad you did! ;)&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
The classic spice blend used in Moroccan cuisine is Ras el Hanout - a typical blend is 6 spices, a good blend is 12 - the top blends contain 24 or more.  Ras el Hanout uses many spices, but is not in the least 'hot' - just exceptionally flavorful.&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
Our version of Ras el Hanout uses 27 ingredients - including some spices that are virtually impossible to find here in the US - the recipe is below, for your edification:&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
The Hirshon Ras el Hanout Spice Blend&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
Seeds from 32 cardamom pods&#60;br /&#62;
16 cloves&#60;br /&#62;
4 tsp each black peppercorns, powdered ginger, cumin, cinnamon and coriander seed&#60;br /&#62;
2 teaspoon each fenugreek seed, slivered earth almonds (these are used to make Horchata, a Mexican/Spanish drink and are also known as &#38;quot;chufas&#38;quot;), sansho pepper (JH substitution for an Ash Berry that is completely unavailable in the U.S. - the taste is very close), lavender, ajwain seed, crushed bay leaves, white peppercorns, allspice, orrisroot&#60;br /&#62;
1 tsp each powdered nutmeg, hot red pepper flakes, dried rosebuds, kalonji seed, cubeb pepper, long pepper, mace&#60;br /&#62;
1/2 teaspoon each grains of paradise, black cardamom seeds, star anise points, galangal powder&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
As you can see - we take our cuisine very seriously at a Diaspora Dinner!  No restaurant - and very few Moroccan households - would use a blend like this due to cost and effort - we spare neither in our pursuit of the best for our guests!&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
We will be joining this amazing 5-course meal with a multimedia history presentation on the Jews of the region, as well as a raffle with hundreds of dollars in prizes.  All proceeds benefit Temple Emanu-El Brotherhood and we truly hope you can join us in this event - DD XIV promises to be one of our best ever!  We are also looking at special entertainment for the evening - something I believe everyone will find most enjoyable.&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
The event is limited to no more than 80 guests and typically sells out quickly - I encourage you to reserve your seats ASAP if you wish to attend.  If you have never been to a Diaspora Dinner before - you are in for a real treat. :)&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
RSVPs are required - please send an email to &#38;lt;email removed&#38;gt; with the title 'Diaspora Dinner' with the number in your party.  Alternatively, you can call the Temple office at 408-292-0939 with your RSVP.  The cost for the Dinner is $40 for Temple Emanu-El Brotherhood members and $49 for non Brotherhood members.  Please send your check to:&#60;br /&#62;

&#60;br /&#62;
Your reservation is *not secured* until we receive your check, so please do get those in soon!&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
On behalf of the entire Diaspora Dinner team - I thank you for your support and consideration - please do try and join us for this unique event. :)&#60;br /&#62;

is located at the end of this message.)&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
A few clarifications on the upcoming The Jews of the Commonwealth dinner on November 10:&#60;br /&#62;
    $40 for those who paid before 10/16 when the price change was announced&#60;br /&#62;
    $40 for full-time students&#60;br /&#62;
    $40 for paid-up 2007-2008 Brotherhood members at $54 level or higher&#60;br /&#62;
    $49 for spouses, guests, and others&#60;br /&#62;
    &#60;br /&#62;
    One raffle ticket is included with each dinner and extra tickets will be for sale at the dinner&#60;br /&#62;
    Optional wine-pairing is $18 per person&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
We are a bit late on sending out renewal envelopes for Brotherhood membership. If you haven't already joined for this year and you would like the member price, be sure to send a check for membership with your dinner reservation or join online at &#60;a href=&#34;http://www.templesanjose.org/groups/brotherhood_membership.htm&#34;&#62;http://www.templesanjose.org/groups/brotherhood_membership.htm&#60;/a&#62; .&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
Please be sure to make your checks out to &#38;quot;Temple Emanuel Brotherhood&#38;quot; and mail to &#38;quot;Temple Emanuel Brotherhood&#38;quot; at the Temple's address. Please also send me an email at &#38;lt;removed from archive&#38;gt; letting me know your check is in the mail, the names of those in your party, and if there is anyone you'd like to be seated with.&#60;br /&#62;

		 <title>Diaspora Dinner XIII - The Jews of the British Commonwealth

&#60;br /&#62;
Well all,  the seasons have turned, a chill is in the air and the hills are turning green again from the rain - a new Diaspora Dinner is also upon us!  Given the weather and our global palette,  we will be focusing this dinner on the Jews of the British Commonwealth! :)  I apologize for getting this out only now - I've been sick with some mutant uber-virus from Europe the last 3.5 weeks, and am only now getting over it.&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
If you are not familiar with the Commonwealth - you will be! :) Using the Commonwealth as a unifying theme, we can now present you with dishes from literally across the globe - our menu this time 'round will feature savoury dishes from the UK, Australia, Canada, South Africa and Nigeria - a unique combination of items that includes solid comfort food from the British Isles to some truly unique items that I am sure you will love (and only experience at a Diaspora Dinner!).&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
We will also have a great raffle this time 'round, with a total value of more than $400 - grand prize is a brand-new iPod Shuffle, in the just-announced Red colour - all proceeds from the sale of the (Red) Shuffle go to help fight AIDS.  We have many other wonderful prizes, many straight from Britain - I think it is one of our best raffles ever!&#60;br /&#62;

Diaspora Dinner XIII - The Jews of the British Commonwealth&#60;br /&#62;
November 10, 2007 - 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM&#60;br /&#62;
Temple Emanu-El&#60;br /&#62;
1010 University Avenue&#60;br /&#62;
San Jose, CA 95126&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
(408) 292-0939&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
As many of you have always told me, the Diaspora Dinner is unique and the quality of the food and presentation extend far beyond its admission price.  We certainly have appreciated those kind words, and have kept our Diaspora Dinner prices frozen for the last 2 years.  Starting with this one, however, we have raised the price a bit.  For those of you who got your checks in early - congratulations, your initiative paid off, as we will honour your reservation at the original rate!&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
Why have we raised prices - well, two main reasons. One - inflation over 24 months made its presence felt.  Two - we are no longer working the Shark Tank this year, due to it being to hard on our volunteers.  As a result, Brotherhood is potentially facing a $4000 budget shortfall and we need to make this up so we can keep giving to Temple as generously as we want to.&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
As such, we have raised the price of the Diaspora Dinner's for non-Brotherhood members from $40 to $49 - the price for Brotherhood members remains the same at $40.  If the men on this list go to the Diaspora Dinner's regularly, and aren't a member of Brotherhood - this is a great time to join, the cost will basically justify itself! :)  The link to join is &#60;a href=&#34;http://www.templesanjose.org/groups/brotherhood_membership.htm&#34;&#62;http://www.templesanjose.org/groups/brotherhood_membership.htm&#60;/a&#62; or just bring a check to the Dinner for $54.  Don't forget that you get all the other benefits of being a Brotherhood member as well - free admission to our Distinguished Speaker Series, exclusive Brotherhood outings, etc. :)&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
For those of you who can't join Brotherhood - please remember we did manage to hold prices steady for 2 years and that all your $ go back to Temple.  To maximize your $, we are also including a free raffle ticket in this and all future dinners - something we used to charge $5 for.  We will also be making the raffles a really special event, and hope to see your continued support as we move forward with the Diaspora Dinners. :)  We will also be keeping the $40 price available for students, so please email me separately if you want to take advantage of that for your kids (or yourself).&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
As always, RSVPs are a must for this event - please email your reservations to Dave Graubart at &#38;lt;email removed&#38;gt; - he is the master coordinator of the list.  Also make sure to send your check for $49 per person ($40 for Brotherhood members and students) to Temple Emanu-El at 1010 University Avenue, San Jose, CA 95126, c/o Brotherhood.  The check should be made out to Temple Emanu-El Brotherhood.  Remember that your reservation is not secured until we receive your check!  If you want to take advantage of our specially paired wines for each course, ably chosen by our resident Sommelier Cheriel Magat, please add an additional $18 to your reservation.  There will be a single wine offered for all, so don't worry - alcohol is there if you want it. ;)&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
I thank all of you for your continued support and look forward to seeing you on November 10. :)&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
cheers, JH&#60;br /&#62;

		 <title>Reminder - Diaspora Dinner XII
</title>
		 <link>http://lists.templesanjose.org/mail.cgi/archive/Diaspora_Dinner/20070515093305/</link>
		 <description>&#60;p&#62;(Mailing List Information, including unsubscription instructions, &#60;br /&#62;
is located at the end of this message.)&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
There are still openings for Diaspora Dinner XII, the Jews of India - be sure and reserve your seats now, if you haven't already, as seats will be going fast!&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
Diaspora Dinner XII is scheduled on Saturday, June 16, from 6:00 - 9:00 (possibly 9:30, depending on how much fun we are having), at Temple Emanu-El, 1010 University Avenue, San Jose. &#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
Reservations can be made by calling the Temple office at 408-292-0939 or by emailing our reservations guru, Jeff Marsh, at &#38;lt;email removed&#38;gt;. Please do not email reservations back to me, as I will assuredly forget to forward your request to Jeff and that is not a good thing. &#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
Our policy is that reservations will be accepted up until June 9 or until the 80 diner limit is reached - also note that reservations are not guaranteed until payment is received in the Temple office. Once the limit is reached, your payment only guarantees your place on the waiting list in case of a cancellation. There will be no refunds for cancellations unless there is a waiting list. going fast! :)&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
The cost is $40 per diner - the check should be made out to &#38;quot;Temple Emanu-El Brotherhood&#38;quot; and mailed or delivered to the Temple office. For those seeking a tailored wine pairing with each course, there is a supplemental cost of $18 per person. The Temple mailing address is:&#60;br /&#62;

&#60;br /&#62;
This is what I get for writing while trying to multitask! :(&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
I neglected to include the cost and the address for mailing the check - details are:&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
The cost is $40 per diner - the check should be made out to &#38;quot;Temple Emanu-El Brotherhood&#38;quot; and mailed or delivered to the Temple office.  For those seeking a tailored wine pairing with each course, there is a supplemental cost of $18 per person.   The Temple mailing address is:&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
1010 University Avenue&#60;br /&#62;
San Jose, CA 95126&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
Again - apologies for failing to include that rather crucial data! &#60;br /&#62;

cheers, JH&#60;br /&#62;

		 <title>Diaspora Dinner XII - The Jews of India
</title>
		 <link>http://lists.templesanjose.org/mail.cgi/archive/Diaspora_Dinner/20070508123422/</link>
		 <description>&#60;p&#62;(Mailing List Information, including unsubscription instructions, &#60;br /&#62;
is located at the end of this message.)&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
Well, it's that time of year again - prepare yourselves for a trip to one of the farthest shores of the Diaspora as we bring you Diaspora Dinner XII, the Jews of India! :)&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
I am personally very excited about this Dinner, as India has one of the most intrugiing, yet least-known Jewish histories of any part of the Diaspora.  I expect all of you will learn some surprising facts about the rich Jewish culture of the subcontinent, as well as enjoying some of the most authentically prepared Indian cuisine you have ever tasted. The Diaspora Dinner crew, ably led by Team Guadiamos, will hopefully dazzle your tastebuds and give you a night to remember for food, serving and atmosphere. &#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
The presentation is already shaping up to be one of the best ever, in my humble opinion, and I do hope you can join us for this signature event.  Your participation in the Diaspora Dinner series is what enables Brotherhood to continue supporting Emanu-El as successfully as we have, and we are grateful for your continued support and enthusiasm for this series. :)&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
As a side note - if you are concerned about the level of spiciness in these dishes - don't worry, we have something for everyone's taste, ranging from mild to hot and everything in between. Dishes will include some classics you know (and love) as well as some unique dishes that could only be found in the most authentic restaurants of India itself - or at a Diaspora Dinner. :)&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
As for the details:&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
Diaspora Dinner XII is scheduled on Saturday, June 16, from 6:00 - 9:00 (possibly 9:30, depending on how much fun we are having), at Temple Emanu-El, 1010 University Avenue, San Jose.  &#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
Reservations can be made by calling the Temple office at 408-292-0939 or by emailing our reservations guru, Jeff Marsh, at &#38;lt;email removed&#38;gt;.  Please do not email reservations back to me, as I will assuredly forget to forward your request to Jeff and that is not a good thing.  &#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
Our policy is that reservations will be accepted up until June 9 or until the 80 diner limit is reached - also note that reservations are *not* guaranteed until payment is received in the Temple office.  Once the limit is reached, your payment only guarantees your place on the waiting list in case of a cancellation.  There will be no refunds for cancellations unless there is a waiting list.&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
I thank you again for your continued enjoyment of the Diaspora Dinners and look forward to hopefully seeing you on the 16th.  To close on a personal note, I am also very pleased to share that my father will be flying in from Connecticut to be my guest at this dinner - if you wanted to know what I'll be like in 27 years, here is your chance. :)  &#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
cheers, J (co-president of Brotherhood) H&#60;br /&#62;

		 <title>Update to Diaspora Dinner XI - The Jew of New York City</title>
		 <link>http://lists.templesanjose.org/mail.cgi/archive/Diaspora_Dinner/20070216111621/</link>
		 <description>&#60;p&#62;(Mailing List Information, including unsubscription instructions, &#60;br /&#62;
is located at the end of this message.)&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
All - I neglected to mention in my first message that there will also be free onsite childcare for all Temple members! :)  When you RSVP, please be sure to make note of how many children you will be bringing and their ages.&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
Original update follows:&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
Greetings all - once again the Seasons have turned, meaning it is time for another Diaspora Dinner, the eleventh in our acclaimed series of gourmet dinners and history presentations on the Jews of the world. &#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
This next event will assuredly be near and dear to the hearts of many of you, as it will be focused on the Jewish history of New York City! The Big Apple is in many respects the epicenter of the Diaspora and may arguably be the greatest city on Earth - Brooklyn is where I was born and as to any arguments to the contrary about New York's importance - fuhgeddaboudit!&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
We have a very exciting, 5-course gourmet meal planned, representing all of the major Ashkenazic, Sephardic and Yiddishkeit Jews of the City (though this IS a Diaspora Dinner, so expect to be surprised by how we have updated some classic dishes and even prepared some items from scratch that you would never expect!). Some menu items will definitely surprise, and are included in deference to the multi-cultural aspects of the City - but all of them are prepared to our exacting standards of quality, elegance and authenticity. &#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
DD XI will be held at Temple Emanu-El, 1010 University Drive, San Jose, CA, 95126 on Sat. March 17 from 6:00 - 9:00 PM. Your participation in the Diaspora Dinner series enables Brotherhood to continue our financial donations and support to Temple - don't forget there will be a raffle as well, with hundreds of dollars worth of prizes for you to win!&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
We look forward to your participation - remember that we only have 80 seats available and are currently at 70 confirmed reservations. If you have previously sent in your check and reservation, please reconfirm via email or phone that you are indeed attending. This step is necessary due to the rescheduled date for this dinner - please send an email to Jeff Marsh at &#38;lt;email removed&#38;gt; (preferred) or call the Temple office at 408-292-0939. &#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
Please note that we must have your check in hand by no later than March 7 to guarantee your reservation - checks should be made out to Temple Emanu-El Brotherhood, $40 per person ($58 per person if you wish to take advantage of the matched wine pairing opportunity per course). As always, we expect a waiting list on this event, so do get your reservations and checks in early to guarantee seating. Send the checks to the attention of Emanu-El Brotherhood at the address listed above. &#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
We have raised thousands of dollars for Temple through this series and appreciate all of your continued enthusiasm for the Diaspora Dinners!&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
cheers, Jonathan&#60;br /&#62;

		 <title>Diaspora Dinner XI - The Jews of New York City
</title>
		 <link>http://lists.templesanjose.org/mail.cgi/archive/Diaspora_Dinner/20070216100924/</link>
		 <description>&#60;p&#62;(Mailing List Information, including unsubscription instructions, &#60;br /&#62;
is located at the end of this message.)&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
Greetings all - once again the Seasons have turned, meaning it is time for another Diaspora Dinner, the eleventh in our acclaimed series of gourmet dinners and history presentations on the Jews of the world.  &#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
This next event will assuredly be near and dear to the hearts of many of you, as it will be focused on the Jewish history of New York City!  The Big Apple is in many respects the epicenter of the Diaspora and may arguably be the greatest city on Earth - Brooklyn is where I was born and as to any arguments to the contrary about New York's importance - fuhgeddaboudit!&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
We have a very exciting, 5-course gourmet meal planned, representing all of the major Ashkenazic, Sephardic and Yiddishkeit Jews of the City (though this *IS* a Diaspora Dinner, so expect to be surprised by how we have updated some classic dishes and even prepared some items from scratch that you would never expect!). Some menu items will definitely surprise, and are included in deference to the multi-cultural aspects of the City - but all of them are prepared to our exacting standards of quality, elegance and authenticity. &#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
DD XI will be held at Temple Emanu-El, 1010 University Drive, San Jose, CA, 95126 on Sat. March 17 from 6:00 - 9:00 PM.  Your participation in the Diaspora Dinner series enables Brotherhood to continue our financial donations and support to Temple - don't forget there will be a raffle as well, with hundreds of dollars worth of prizes for you to win!&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
We look forward to your participation - remember that we only have 80 seats available and are currently at 70 confirmed reservations.  If you have previously sent in your check and reservation, please reconfirm via email or phone that you are indeed attending.  This step is necessary due to the rescheduled date for this dinner - please send an email to Jeff Marsh at &#38;lt;email removed&#38;gt; (preferred) or call the Temple office at 408-292-0939.  &#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
Please note that we must have your check in hand by no later than March 7 to guarantee your reservation - checks should be made out to Temple Emanu-El Brotherhood, $40 per person ($58 per person if you wish to take advantage of the matched wine pairing opportunity per course). As always, we expect a waiting list on this event, so do get your reservations and checks in early to guarantee seating. Send the checks to the attention of Emanu-El Brotherhood at the address listed above. &#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
We have raised thousands of dollars for Temple through this series and appreciate all of your continued enthusiasm for the Diaspora Dinners!&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
cheers, Jonathan&#60;br /&#62;
